In the Short Film Distribution workshop, filmmaker Nelson MacDonald will examine short film distribution through the lens of his successful short RHONDA'S PARTY. Nelson will delve into his efforts to have the film seen, exploring which efforts paid off and those that haven’t. Speaking at length about his tips and tricks for applying to festivals, he will explore the process one takes once accepted into a festival. This workshop will leave the student with a clear idea of the short film landscape films across Canada. This workshop is ideal for filmmakers who have a new short film ready to hit the festival circuit.

Nelson MacDonald is a film producer and programmer. His first short film RHONDA'S PARTY was made through AFCOOP's FILM 5 program. It screened at dozens of festivals around the globe, was named to TIFF's Top Ten Shorts of 2011, and won awards at Enroute Film Festival, NSI Online film festival, and CBC Short Film Faceoff. He has since produced WHEN YOU SLEEP, which premiered at TIFF 2012, and STRAY, which screened at Festival du Nouveau Cinema. Nelson has been fortunate to travel to many of the world's top festivals including Cannes and Clermont-Ferrand.
