Horror is one of the most popular genres in filmmaking, and it has it's own particular writing style. In this workshop, you will learn how screenwriting for horror is different than writing for other genres, and how to avoid common pitfalls.
Instructor: Colin MacDonald
Colin MacDonald is an award winning filmmaker who has been honing his creative talents in the screen industry for over ten years. His dreams of becoming a filmmaker started at an early age when films like Night of the living dead, Robocop and Jaws captured his imagination.
Colin has written and directed over a dozen short films and music videos including the award-winning projects Hangnail (2020), Presents (2019), and Presence (2013).
Colin's most recent film Hangnail has become a viral sensation, premiering exclusively at Dread Central and garnishing over 10,000 views online. It has also screened at over twenty festivals around the world and won five awards including, Best Special Effects, Best Original Score and Goriest Film.
Colin is currently finishing post-production on his next body horror film Stitches and is in development on his next short film Hunters’ Orange.

In an effort to address and recognize historical and present-day inequities we have created a new pay-what-you-can style pricing plan for our Fall Workshop series. Please feel free to sign up for whatever price-point you are most comfortable with. No questions asked.
$25 - regular rate. This rate covers the cost of paying our instructor (instructors are paid $40/hr) as well as the cost of staff time to organize and promote the workshop.
$15 - reduced rate. This rate makes a contribution towards our costs.
$0 - FREE :) This rate acknowledges that financial means should not be a barrier to becoming a filmmaker.
