This workshop is open to the public as a part of the FILM 5 and Trainee programs.
Learn all about the jargon, the do's and don’ts and find out what to expect your first time on a film set. This course is required for all on set FILM 5 trainees and is included as part of the FILM 5 application fee. If you have previously taken this course, you are not required to take it again.
This workshop will run from 5 - 9 PM.

Jenny Reeves has been a member of IATSE Local 849 representing Motion Picture Technicians in Maritime Canada for 7 years in the craft service department. She was organized into the local in 2011 and now serves the organization as President. She also serves as the co-chair of the Nova Scotia Federation of Labour Anti-Racism and Human Rights Committee.
Since Becoming President of Local 849 in 2017, Jenny has undertaken strategies within the local to organize and grow the membership. She is committed to continuing education and has recently received a Diploma from the IATSE Executive Officers Training Institute and earned a certificate in the Women in Leadership Program at Cornell University. Passionate about safety and equality, Jenny actively promotes anti-harassment initiatives and diversity and inclusion within the industry. She started teaching Set Etiquette and Set Safety workshops within the local and for other industry organizations such as AFCOOP, NB Film Co-op, and the NSCC Screen Arts program.
Before going into the film world, Jenny worked in various other industries including forestry, manufacturing, construction and the oilfield.
Jenny lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia with her partner Kimberley and their dog Ziggy. She works full time in her craft as well as helping out with the family forestry business and undertaking her duties to the local. In her downtime she enjoys cooking, camping and other outdoor activities such as paddling and snowshoeing.
