This workshop is intended to give participants an overview of working with super 8 and 16mm film. This workshop is suitable for filmmakers with no experience working with celluloid equipment but who understand the basic process of filmmaking. This workshop will cover technique, cameras, types of film stock, and processing options. Whether you are looking to experience film as it was originally created or you are looking for a new medium to experiment with, this workshop has what you are looking for!

Alex is a film and moving image artist whose work has screened at major festivals across Canada. Alex specializes in small-gauge film camera techniques (Super 8, Regular 16mm and Super 16). Alex was recently named the RBC Emerging Artist 2017 for his expanded cinema project entitled Folded River presented at Nocturne Art At Night.
Saturday November 25, 10 AM - 5 PM
Interested in processing film without all the nasty chemicals? You can with plants and a few simple items from your kitchen! This workshop offers hands on instruction on how to process black and white Super 8 film in buckets and Lomo tanks using eco-friendly ingredients like coffee and flowers. Participants will shoot, develop, and watch their films all in one day.
