A study of the principals of sound, this workshop will cover the art, technique and theory of sound recording for film. The workshop will cover the theory of on-set sound recording, sound foley (reproduced sound), and sound design. INSTRUCTOR: Christopher Spencer-Lowe (CSL) is an award-winning filmmaker and film educator, arts administrator and media arts advocate, sound recordist / designer and occasional performer of unusual works in public. He moved to Vancouver in the early 90’s and attended the film program at the School for the Contemporary Arts, Simon Fraser University. Returning to Halifax in the late 90’s, CSL worked briefly in the Nova Scotian film industry until settling in as the Production Coordinator and in-house educator at The Atlantic Filmmakers Cooperative in Halifax. He worked there for 14 years while producing/directing short films. CSL continues to remain an active member of the Halifax filmmaking community, teaching workshops and courses and running kinOmatic Film Services.
