John Walker is one of the leading documentary voices of English Canada.  He has won Genies for his films The Hand of Stalin (1990) and Strand: Under the Dark Cloth (1989), and his 2014 film Arctic Defenders won Best Feature at the Atlantic Film Festival, the first time a documentary film has been so awarded.  He was a founding member of the Documentary Organization of Canada, and is now one of the true senior statesmen of Canadian documentary.  The Canadian Encyclopedia calls his films “a natural successor to the lyrical tradition created by Colin Low.”    

This masterclass is based on Walker's film Quebec My Country mon pays which will be screening at Dec. 10th, 7pm at Carbon Arc Cinema 1747 Summer Street, Halifax, NS it is highly encouraged that participants attend the screening (please keep an eye on their website for screening tickets).

The masterclass is $20 for the general public, $10 for AFCOOP members and FREE for Dalhousie students.
