This workshop will explore the basics cornerstones of directing and how to prepare yourself to direct your own film. Open to all but aimed at the beginning filmmaker, the workshop will look at vision building, rehearsals, the casting process, shotlisting, and other tools of directing for film.

Cory Bowles is a Nova Scotlan filmmaker actor, dancer, choreographer, educator, and musician. He has appeared as an actor in a number of film, radio, and television shows, receiving a Gemini for the role of “Cory” in the popular Canadian TV series Trailer Park Boys, which he currently serves as a director. Cory also tours coast to coast bringing his brand of social comedy to the stand up circuit. He wrote and directed the short films; THE SCAVENGERS (Fantasia, Hamptons ‘08), HEART OF RHYME (TIFF ’11), RIGHTEOUS (’13), ANATOMY OF ASSISTANCE (TIFF ’13) and is currently developing his feature film CRACKER FACTORY. As principle choreographer and director of the companies Verve Mwendo Dance, and Black Rabbit Entertainment, he has created over 70 works & choreographies for stage and film. A sought after teacher and instructor, his workshops take him throughout Canada, where he works with both youth and adults. He is currently faculty at the Bishop’s University Drama Program and recently completed the 2012/13 Canadian Film Centre’s Director’s Lab.
