“I have an idea for a movie. Where do I start?” This is a great workshop for those new to filmmaking or new to filmmaking in the region. The instructor will walk the class through the various stages of the production process. Topics such as choice of medium, shooting style, and the availability of resources in the Maritime region will be discussed at length. Come with questions and a readiness to connect with other filmmakers.

Instructor: Luckas Cardona
Hailing from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Luckas Cardona attended Humber College specializing in Film Production. His first short film Daddy’s Little Girl, produced and released in 2009 to critical acclaim, was a finalist for CBC’s 2010 Short Film Face Off. His follow-up, Mr.Happy, was nominated for Best Canadian Short at the Silver Wave Film Festival. Most recently his short film The Long and Short of Barry Small earned actor Christopher Shore ACTRA's Best Acting award of 2013.
Having produced documentaries with a focus on francophone and aboriginal culture, he currently has Spaceman and Robotron, an animated series in development with Teletoon. Additionally he's working on his second feature script, Age of the Machine, a retro-futuristic cyber-thriller. He also teaches workshops and facilitates film camps in partnership with local Halifax media arts organizations.
