This workshop covers the art and craft of independent short screenwriting for participants with minimal or no previous experience in creative writing for film. Topics covered include: screenplay format, plot structure, theme, dialogue and character development. Participants are welcome to bring an idea for a short film to share with the class if time permits.

Instructor: Iain MacLeod
Iain MacLeod is a screenwriter, story editor and filmmaker from Nova Scotia. He was educated at York University and the Canadian Film Centre. After writing and directing several short films he wrote sketch on the CBC show Street Cents before spending six seasons on Showcase Television’s Trailer Park Boys as story editor then later one of the writers. He has also had several feature films in development, including Beat Down and Relative Happiness (both co-written), produced in 2011 and 2014 respectively. In 2015 Iain will direct his first feature film, Your Money Or Your Wife, based on his script.
