This workshop series covers the art and craft of independent filmmaking. Participants will take the Intro to Screenwriting, Intro to Filmmaking in Nova Scotia and Intro to Directing.
In Intro to screenwriting, instructor Brett Hannam will introduce the basic concepts of screenplay format, plot structure, theme, dialogue and character development. Participants are welcome to bring an idea for a short film to share with the class if time permits.
In Intro to Filmmaking in Nova Scotia, instructor Marc Almon will walk the class through the various stages of the production process. Topics such as choice of medium, shooting style, and the availability of resources in the Maritime region will be discussed. Come with questions and a readiness to connect with other filmmakers.
In Intro to Directing, students will explore the basic cornerstones of directing and how to prepare yourself to direct your own film. The workshop will look at vision building, rehearsals, the casting process, shortlisting, and other tools of directing for film.
